The Annual GDST Debating Competitions
Every year South Hampstead and Putney host the two annual GDST debating competitions, with Putney running the KS3 competition and SHHS running the KS4/5. The competition is open to all GDST schools as well as our state partner schools.

Where girls learn without limits

Each competition is in the BP format and has three rounds breaking to multiple finals

Each competition includes ‘novice finals’ for students in their first ever BP competition

In previous years, half of all students taking part were in their first debating competition

GDST Juniors takes place at Putney High School on Saturday June 8th, 10-4.30.

GDST Seniors takes place at South Hampstead High School on Saturday July 6th, 9.30am-6pm.

GDST Seniors will feature a ‘fancy final.’ Students will have the opportunity to change between round 3 and the finals into whatever they consider ‘fancy’ clothing. That does NOT have to mean black tie; it is whatever the students feel comfortable in, and of course it is completely optional.
