Year 5 & 6 Debating Competition

Our primary school debating competitions are probably the most fun and chaotic events we offer! Each term, we welcome roughly 200 students from local primary schools to compete and be crowned the champions of arguing!

This competition is for Year 5 & 6 pupils. No experience is required

November 20th, 3.30-7pm.
Teams of three take part in three debates
For each debate, each student is given up to three minutes to present arguments for their side
Judges reward arguments that are relevant, well explained, true and important.
Students are given the motions (topics) 15 minutes before the debates start and must prepare in their team, with no internet access or teacher help
Debates are adjudicated by South Hampstead High School’s debaters and visiting school teachers.
The location is South Hampstead High School, 3 Maresfield Gardens, London, NW3 5SS.

Thank you for an excellent event. I particularly liked the South Hampstead girls giving the feedback and managing the judging. All our children thoroughly enjoyed all elements and left very inspired.
